Dr Rigas graduated from Athens University Medical School and was specialized in General Surgery and Surgical Urology in “Evaggelismos” Athens Hospital.
He specializes in minimally invasive procedures, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery. He was trained in Columbia NY University / University Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio (USA) in Prosthetic Urology (surgical implantation of penile prosthesis and artificial urinary sphincter for the treatment of impotence and incontinence respectively). He is a certified Robotic Surgeon constantly performing Urological procedures using the Da Vinci Robotic System. He completed his training as a console Robotic Surgeon at Biomedical Research Foundation, Academy of Athens and attended advanced Robotic courses at the European Center of Laparoscopic and Robotic training in Strasbourg, France (IRCAD- EITS).
For the time period 2005 until 2010 he was the Head of Athens Bioclinic Urology Department and since then he is the Head of the Urology Clinic in Athens Euroclinic General Hospital. Everyday practice consists of all the modern surgical techniques, such as flexible ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy for ureter and kidney stones, Laser and Turis transurethral prostatectomy for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia and Robotic Da Vinci procedures for Prostate cancer and Kidney diseases. He is actively participating in many National and International Medical Congresses as a speaker and Trainer, while his medical articles have been published in international medical press. He has participated in many multinational research protocols and has been Research Fellow of Rockefeller’s N. York University Hospital. His has a PhD in Urology from Athens University Medical School (diagnosis and treatment of kidney cancer).
He is a certified Fellow of the European Board of Urology (F.E.B.U.). He is a member of Greek Urologic Society, European Urological Association (EAU), European Robotic Urologic Society (ERUS) and South Eastern European Robotic Surgery Society (SEERSS).
